VAT Registration & Filing Services in the UAE
Soft Power Audit & Tax Agency handles UAE VAT registration, return filing, refund claims, penalty reconsideration and VAT health checks as an FTA Authorized Tax Agent. VAT rules are administered by the UAE Federal Tax Authority, and we manage the full cycle so filings are accurate, supported and submitted on time.
We work with businesses in Abu Dhabi, Musaffah, Khalifa City, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, across construction, trading, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, real estate and professional services.
What is VAT in the UAE?
Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax charged at 5% on most goods and services supplied in the UAE. Registered businesses charge VAT on their taxable supplies, recover input VAT on eligible purchases, and file periodic VAT returns with the Federal Tax Authority reporting the net amount payable or refundable.
What is the VAT registration threshold?
VAT registration is mandatory once taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed that figure within the next 30 days. Voluntary registration is available from AED 187,500 of taxable supplies or taxable expenses. We assess your turnover history, confirm which threshold applies and prepare the registration file.
Our VAT services
From first registration through to complex refund claims and disputes, we handle the full VAT lifecycle.
- VAT registration, group registration and deregistration
- Input tax review and recovery optimisation
- Voluntary disclosure for historic errors
- VAT health checks and transaction mapping
- Quarterly and monthly VAT return preparation and filing
- VAT refund claims and follow-up with the FTA
- Penalty reconsideration requests
- Zero-rating and exemption assessment for exports and specific sectors
VAT penalties and reconsideration
If you have received an FTA penalty, we prepare a reconsideration request supported by evidence, review the underlying filings to identify the root cause, correct historic returns through voluntary disclosure where required, and put controls in place so the issue is not repeated. Acting quickly matters — reconsideration requests are time-bound.
VAT health check
A health check reviews a sample of your sales and purchase transactions against filed returns to confirm correct treatment of standard-rated, zero-rated, exempt and reverse-charge items. It typically surfaces recoverable input tax that was missed and exposures that would otherwise appear during an FTA audit.
